When innovation becomes deliciously regressive
Nicolas Beretti, high wired brain of Brainswatt, has a thing to provoke innovation: Lego bricks.
“Innovation has nothing innovant”. This is how Nicolas Beretti most often starts, the highly wired consultant at the head of BrainsWatt Practise, in his conferences of fake style one man show. «Innovation has become an everday word that has no more meaning but is inscribed in the DNA of man since he exists”: climb Everest, walk on the moon or light a fire man has always searched to push his limits. Here is innovation no more no less!
Where to situate innovation?“Especially not in a laboratory de R&D. it should be a global opening of a firm to avoid the case of Kodak.” Or how to turn your back on the innovation of numeric photography. Next to fixed in their way firms whose chances of survival are nil, certain overactives create autonomous entities charged to create the break.“If a firm becomes a cage their best elements leave to start their own business. A firm should know how to develop competences internally. Amongst the good examples, 3M, Danone, Général Electric et Pernod Ricard who have recently installed apart from the traditional quarters a commando of seven young creators named BIG (Breakthrough Innovation Group), Gutenberg, their first project is a connected bar made of books containing alcohols, and a support platform for on line services.”
These entities who exist besides a core businessand new business to be developed allow to forsee the future and to structure the firm in a way to always enrich the experimental part without neglecting the heart of the firm. “A firm is not made to innovate, it's a system made to optimize. It has to destructure first concentrating on the turnover from the "most rentable products" then on the turnover and growth in investing new services or products, finally an innovative laboratory without core business, no innovation !”
